Face Creams to Make at Home

There are an abundance of face creams readily available to buy in stores, but you can make your own face creams at home for any purpose. Since your skin requires different creams for different reasons, here are a few recipes for homemade creams to use for any occasion.

Face Cream for Dry Skin

You may have dry, flaky skin, and there are simple ways to make face creams just for that reason. Using coconut as a moisturizer helps keep your skin soft and smooth, and using it overnight ensures that your skin can absorb it for several hours untouched. What you need to make this cream is ½ cup coconut oil, a quarter cup of sesame oil, and 1 tablespoon each of lecithin and lemon juice.

Put all the ingredients into a blender until it has a thick consistency. When combined, you get moisture from the coconut, rejuvenated cell tissue from the lecithin and clean, sun-protected skin from the lemon juice and sesame oil. No need to heat anything; just mix together, rub into your skin every night and wake up the next morning and feel the rejuvenation.

Iron Out Those Wrinkles
Spending money on wrinkle-reducing creams can destroy your wallet. Instead, use this cream at home and notice the tightness of your skin return. Orange is the main ingredient since it energizes the skin and fights against sun damage. For moisture, you will use a small amount of almond oil. What you want to do is combine one egg, one teaspoon of almond oil and eight drops of orange essential oil. When whipped together, you get a thick face-firming cream. Apply this to your face and neck for about 15 minutes at a time twice a day. Your skin will begin to tighten and regain the elasticity it once had before the wrinkles occurred.

Face Cream for Acne Care

We all know acne is tough to deal with, so anything you can do to clear up your skin naturally is a great thing. All you need is one teaspoon each of honey, jojoba oil and olive oil; one egg yolk; and between half a cup and a full cup of oatmeal. The oatmeal is used as a thickening and skin cooling agent. The jojoba oil is a natural antibiotic and stops skin inflammation, while the olive oil replaces your natural oils by making the body think it is producing too much and will then slow down its production. Mix all the ingredients together and add more oatmeal to make it as thick as you would like.

Make sure to clean your face first with warm water and a cloth to rid your skin of dead cells and oils. Apply this mask at night for 10 minutes, rinse off, and try not to touch your face. If you repeat this daily, you should begin seeing results within a week. Make sure to continue using the mixture to rid yourself of acne as painless and naturally as possible.

Types of Face Cream

Before selecting a face cream you must first decide exactly what function you would like the cream to serve. There is a wide variety of face creams on the market designed for teenagers, women and men in their 30s and creams for mature skin. Some face creams, such as moisturizers, are meant to be used in the day-time and therefore contain sunblock. Other creams are designed to be worn only at night.

Anti-Aging

Creams marketed to fight against signs of aging are generally packed with anti-oxidants, retinol and sunscreen. Antioxidants work to repair free radicals within the skin that cause wrinkles and retinol is a high concentration of Vitamin A that helps erase wrinkles and diminish age spots. Dermatologists agree that sunscreen should be used daily to prevent future aging damage.

creams.

Examples of anti-aging creams include ROC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Night Cream, Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle and UV Damage Corrector, Philosophy Help Me, Philosophy Miracle Worker Miraculous Anti-Aging Moisturizer, and Prevage Advanced Anti-Aging Serum.

Acne-Fighting

If your acne is considered mild to moderate try an over-the-counter acne-fighting cream before spending money on visiting a dermatologist. Over-the-counter acne fighting creams generally utilize either benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Benzoyl peroxide is an anti-bacterial medicine that kills bacteria that causes pimples. This form of medicine can cause peeling of the skin and can also bleach anything it comes into contact with such as towels, bedding and clothing.

Some acne-fighting face creams contain soothing ingredients to quell irritation. For example Neutrogena Acne Stress Control 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment contains green tea and cucumber in addition to salicylic acid. Examples of salicylic acid acne fighting face creams include GoClear Intensive Acne Treatment, Burts Bees Acne Moisture Lotion, Neova Acne Cream and Bath and Body Works Acnescription Overnight Acne Repair Lotion.

Examples of acne creams containing benzoyl peroxide include Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Acne Treatment Cream, Nuetrogena on-the-spot Acne Treatment, Clinique Acne Solutions Emergency Gel-Lotion and Miraclear 12 Hour Acne Cream.

Skin-Brightening

By the time a woman reaches the age of 30 she will have lost at least 50 percent of her skin's brightness, according to P&G Beauty Science. There are cosmetic procedures and over-the-counter creams designed for decreasing dull skin. Skin-brightening creams diminish age spots, acne scarring and promote a more even skin tone.

Skin-brightening face creams include Bliss Triple Oxygen + C Energizing Cream, Clinique Even Better Skin Tone Corrector, Clarins Bright Plus HP Brightening Hydrating Day Lotion with SPF 20, and the Bremenn 6 in 1 Skin Cream for the Face.
